This holiday season give the gift that keeps giving.

If you were one of million of people planning on flying home today so you could return to work … Most likely is not gonna happen as more than 3,000 flights were cancelled or have been delayed across the U.S.

There will be a short delay …
The Captain will make an announcement soon
In case of an emergency water landing your seat will turn into a floatation device
Uh huh, yeah sure.

A man was shot in L.A. this weekend after wielding a steak knife at an officer
Small child was gunned down after pointing a toy gun at a cop
I got a ticket for “No Seatbelt” which is stoopid, I had the belt, I just wasn’t wearing it.
Cover me … I am gonna change lanes.

Brown Thursday … Black Friday … And now Cyber Monday.
Stop the world I want off.

Does history repeat itself:  Guns … Guns … Guns.  How quickly we forget.  It is not always guns … guns are not the problem.  Andrew Kehoe blew up a school bus in Beth Township, Michigan.  Kehoe also killed his wife and firebombed his own farm, all of this happening just as the charges he had placed under a local school went off.

Which ended up killing 37 elementary school children and two teachers.  Then he drove to the school, in a car loaded up with shrapnel and detonated that, killing three adults, a schoolboy and himself.

All of this happened in 1922.

Three days later, Charles Lindbergh landed in Paris and completed his trans-Atlantic flight, the nation and the world quickly forgot about the worst diabolical act of home grown terrorism and worst massacres in U.S. History.

Barn Burner:  Yesterday’s post, Stumped In Oklahoma went over 1,700 views in one day period, that is kind of amazing.  You keep on chopping, day after day, and the chips keep flying, and then every now and then, you hit one out of the park.  Who would have thunk thet?

“Handpicked highlights brought to you from the wordpress editors”  …  Our friends over at Fresh Pressed have put up a real head-banger, 3,700 words on a Gay porn star who has committed suicide and the possible reasons for this.  Uh huh … sure.  Fully believing that people will believe the truth when they hear it, here is the bottom line.  People who commit suicide are selfish, and they are only thinking of themselves, not the people they left behind to mourn.

Gasoline The New Gold Standard: The price of gasoline has increased .50 cents this month, today is the 36th day it has increased in price, and I fully expect it to continue to spiral out of sight (Who is going to stop the carnage?).  At the current rate, if it is to continue at this accelerated pace, a gallon of gas should be somewhere around $8.40 a gallon by Christmas.

If you want to read more on it, here is a link.

Sitting on the dock of the bay:  I keep thinking about these two old boys, sitting on a boat dock in Alabama, and hurtling thru space is a chunk of rock, big as a bus, moving at 33,000 miles per hour.  What do you think the expression is going to be on their face when that monster rock plows into the pond they are fishing in?  I am sorry …. but it just makes me smile.  Here is something else I found amusing this week.

Sweet Dreams:  You ever lie in your bed, that special early time in the morning, where you are not exactly asleep, but you still have your eyes closed?  I have just had another nice dream, one of those sweet dreams, where you just don’t want to open your eyes, and lose the image in your brain that has brought you release from the trials of life.

In my younger days, my mom would call them Happy Dreams, and we will leave it that.  Anyway, she was there, Penny from the Big Bang Theory and she shared some time with me last night and I just don’t want to get up, I don’t want to open my eyes.

imgres

Which is a lot, lot better than those other dreams.

Y’know, the one’s where you are naked and walking backwards in the dark, and you brush up against a warm buttered doorknob, don’tcha just hate those kind of dreams?

Have a great weekend.  We are headed into round three of winter weather and most likely will be shut in, napping our day away and of course ….. dreaming.  (heh-heh)

Negative Ruminations

imgresFor the first time in something like 200 years, a Pope is resigning and throwing in the towel.  Two books on the subject say that “the internal politic’s of the church” are the main culprit and that the stress and strain of dealing with it on a daily basis is why the Head Man In Charge is stepping down.

Too many cooks will often spoil the soup, is what my Mama used to say, and it appears that all this negative influence has pulled the man down.  Details can be found here.

This is something to think about when negative people are doing their best to rain on your parade. So remember this the next time someone who knows nothing and cares less tries to make your life miserable.

There was a woman who was at her hairdresser’s getting her hair styled for a trip to Rome with her husband.  She mentioned the trip to the hairdresser, who responded:  “Rome?  Why would anyone want to go there? It’s crowded and dirty. You’re crazy to go to Rome.  So, how are you getting there?”

“We’re taking Continental,” was the reply. “We got a great rate!”

“Continental?” exclaimed the hairdresser. “That’s a terrible airline. Their planes are old, their flight attendants are ugly, and they’re always late.  So, where are you staying in Rome?”

“We’ll be at this exclusive little place over on Rome ‘s Tiber River called Teste.”  The hairdresser responded: “Don’t go any further. I know that place.  Everybody thinks its gonna be something special and exclusive, but it’s really a dump.”

Not to be deterred the woman getting her hair done responded:  “We’re going to go to see the Vatican and maybe get to see the Pope.”

“That’s rich,” laughed the hairdresser. “You and a million other people trying to see him.  He’ll look the size of an ant.  Boy, good luck on this lousy trip of yours. You’re going to need it.”

A month later, the woman again came in for a touchup on her hairdo.

The hairdresser asked her about her trip to Rome.  “It was wonderful,” explained the woman, “not only were we on time in one of Continental’s brand new planes, but it was overbooked, and they bumped us up to first class. The food and wine were wonderful, and I had a handsome 28-year-old steward who waited on me hand and foot.  And the hotel was great! They’d just finished a $5 million remodeling job, and now it’s a jewel, the finest hotel in the city. They, too, were overbooked, so they apologized and gave us their owner’s suite at no extra charge!”

“Well,” muttered the hairdresser, “that’s all well and good, but I know you didn’t get to see the Pope.”

“Actually, we were quite lucky, because as we toured the Vatican, a Swiss Guard tapped me on the shoulder, and explained that the Pope likes to meet some of the visitors, and if I’d be so kind as to step into his private room and wait, the Pope would personally greet me.  Sure enough, five minutes later, the Pope walked through the door and shook my hand! I knelt down and he spoke a few words to me..”

“Oh, really!  What’d he say?” the hairdresser asked.  The woman getting her hair done replied … He said: “Who ****** up your hair?”

Uh, no good huh?  Well whadya expect for free?

Try this one on for size.

A) The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000.  (B) Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year are 120,000.  (C) Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171  Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services.

Now please consider this: (A) The number of gun owners in the U.S. is estimated to be 80,000,000.  (Yes, that’s 80 million)  (B) The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500.  (C) The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is .0000188  Statistics courtesy of FBI

So, statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.  Remember that …  “Guns don’t kill people, doctors do.”

So here is the bottom line, where the rubber meets the road:

Not everyone has a gun … But … Almost everyone has at least one doctor.

This means you are over 9,000 times more likely to be killed by a doctor as by a gun owner.  Please alert your friends to this alarming threat.  We must ban doctors before this gets completely out of hand! *

Its only weird if it doesn’t work.  Like most of America, I watched the Super Bowl yesterday.  It seemed strange for a number of reasons, one being it was the fiftieth Super Bowl, and that somehow just does not seem possible?  As I have been around for quite a few of them personally, and the numbers, well, they just sort of always add up not necessarily in my favor these days.

Another thing that was different is this.  I hard drived the game (DVR’ed it) and did not actually watch the game as it unfolded and the drama increased, we watched the last three minutes of the contest and that was it.  As I am not a great football fan anymore, I taped it in order to see the commercials, which I now consider to be the best part of all of it.

imgres-1

Funny how habits sort of get ingrained into a person.  I am so used to “skipping the commercials” and watching the main body of the program.  Now for this event, I had to reverse the procedure, and it took some getting used to.  I finally managed to master it, but it was tough, that and seeing the Niner’s lose, I wasn’t all that keen on that either.

This is a pretty good video, it wasn’t on the Super Bowl, but you will find it amusing.

Shopping at the Costco Fish Market.

The Great American Free lunch:  The Senate Budget Committee reports that in fiscal year 2011, between food stamps, housing support, child care, Medicaid, and other benefits, the average US household below the poverty line received $168 (my note, 7 days a week) in government support.  What’s the problem with that much support?

Last time I even bothered to check, the median household income in America was just over $50,000 per year, which averages out to $137.13 per day.  To put it another way, being on welfare now pays the equivalent of about $30 an hour for a 40-hour week, while the average job pays $25 an hour.  And then there is the person who works who has to pay taxes, which drops the pay to $21 an hour.

It is no wonder that welfare is now the biggest part of the budget, more than Social Security or defense.  And why would anyone want to get off welfare when working pays $9 an hour less.

Another great thing about welfare versus working … No drug screening for anyone, just sign up and wait on the money to come rolling in.  For more of the report you can find it here.

er

Crayon’s before bullets:  While I am up here on my soapbox.  One of our American Hero’s was taken out this weekend by a gun, and there is more negative news about firearms in the media.  It all seems so far fetched out of of sync for me.  Our so-called cures for societal problems are directed at the symptoms rather than the causes. We can’t keep throwing money at a broken education system, or its victims. We can’t guarantee raising well-behaved, normal children in broken, drug-dependent or parentless families.

Taking guns from law-abiding citizens will only deepen the lawlessness of criminals. Taking God out of our schools and society, and legitimizing every type of deviant moral, physical and psychological behavior, dooms American society to a continued descent into more violence, self-centered behavior and immorality. Society won’t improve until America returns to her roots.

If we truly want to solve most of American society’s problems, return America to its founding principles. Otherwise, we commit societal suicide.

Munday-Munday:  I got those wake up its early, wash behind your ears they’re dirty, eat your eggs and oatmeal, rush to work blues.  I just do not do Monday’s all that well anymore … Most folks believe heart attacks occur on Monday, but the majority of them knock you down on Wednesday, not the first of the week as erroneously presumed.  And they hit at 10 A.M. (or thereabouts) quick check your watch.

That is one of those mysteries of life, you know things that do not add up.

Why is it that every black guy in prison in the movies is named “Red?”  That would be one.  How come some guy born in Kansas City that happens to be black is now called an African American?  He aint African anything.  Why does the late Patrick Swayze look both ways before crossing the street in the movie Ghost?  I mean hell, he is a ghost, an errant cab or a delivery truck cannot hurt him.  Strange doin’s on a Monday.

One more and I am outta here … If evolution is true as they say, then why do Mother’s only have one set of hands?

Think about it ….

Email Of The Week [020213]

Elected Officials Are Fundamentally Dishonest

To the Editor:

This letter was forwarded to Barack Obama, John Boehner, Chris Murphy, Dick Blumenthal, Elizabeth Esty, and Harry Reid

I live in Sandy Hook, CT. My family and close friends weren’t harmed on December 14. That day impacted 26 families with an indescribable, staggering pain and anguish. For most of Sandy Hook, it merely affected us with an inescapable intensity of sadness and grief.

Gun control has long been a focus of many in this country. Though I’m not knowledgeable of all the nuances of the Second Amendment, based on the Founding Fathers’ circumstances, it had far more to do with enabling the citizenry to protect themselves against tyrannical government than against local psychopaths. It is about providing a balanced firepower so when King George’s successor came knocking on your door, you could fight back. Government today is no less inclined to abuse its authority than it was then. Based on the absurd and ongoing power grab that is present day Washington, it’s as threatening as ever.

That so many of you view the NRA with its resistance to further restrictions on firearms as intransigent lunatics has far more to do with how you conduct yourselves in office than it does with the NRA’s actions.

You in public office are fundamentally dishonest people. You lead lives of deception at every turn, structuring your lives as comfortably as you can while governing with an indifference and arrogance that is absolutely maddening. When the country is reeling from financial disaster, you waste a trillion dollars on a health care bill we can’t afford and you’ve never read. You claim it’s critical because health care costs are killing this country… no they’re not, you are! You are killing this country. You endorse the ongoing slaughter of millions of unborn children and whine when terrorists are water boarded.

You can’t lecture us right in Newtown High School about not doing enough to keep our children safe, while simultaneously slaughtering the unborn. You fabricate the intense, media laden drama of the fiscal cliff and lack the courage to do anything about truly reforming the obscene gluttony of government. You know you’ll be out of office before the bill comes due… you don’t care and have no integrity nor honor.

You lie whenever and wherever you need to to move forth your agenda. Were you able, you would purge the US of guns… every last gun in the country, if you could. So please forgive Wayne LaPierre and those of us who don’t trust you as far as we can spit. You’re a dishonest lot, motivated by a distorted worldview. If mass murder prevention were truly your goal, you would welcome armed security wherever needed. It is outrageous that we protect our money with far more firepower than we protect our children.

I have never owned a gun, nor wanted to as intensely as right now. You’ll stop restricting guns when only you have them.

Lock N Load

pailin-gun-toterGuns – Guns – Guns

The mainstream press is alive with the subject of guns.  Guns and their owners are at the forefront of most of the news media in this country and I suppose in Europe too.

In a way I think it is kind of ironic, you see I would be willing to lay you eight to five, that hammers, pick-axes, and other hand held blunt instruments, injure, maim and kill more people in this country on a yearly basis than do guns.

I know some of you own guns, but this is something to think about … rational thinking seldom applies on a hot button subject like this.  Recently in Mississippi they took a bus load of kids to the police station for throwing smores at each other, and then charged them with assault.

Handcuffed a kid to a railing for not wearing a belt to school and believe it or not, suspended a kindergartner for “just talking about a TOY gun.”

Overkill, pure and simple. When will the “sane people” come onboard and register in with some pure rational thinking on this matter?  Public opinion seems at best a little bit off and media attention is at the point of just give them up, the world will be a better place.

And “if frogs had wings … well you know the rest.”

Even my wife, has breached the subject and was wanting a gun (not a good idea) and now is dead set on a stun gun or a taser.  Which I find lacking, first it allows the predator in close and I don’t like that at all.  Then there is the somewhat remote outside chance I could really irritate her … but we won’t go there, as I am determined that this is going to be a “serious piece.”

If you don’t have a gun, here’s a more humane way to wreck someone’s evil plans for you. Wasp Spray, available just about anywhere, added bonus, no permit required, open carry if you wish.  Did you know this? I didn’t.  I never really thought of it before. I guess I can get rid of the Louisville Slugger (baseball bat).

Give some serious consideration to … Wasp Spray

We heard of a lady who is a receptionist in a church in a high risk area was concerned about someone coming into the office on Monday to rob them when they were counting the collection. She asked the local police department about using pepper spray and they recommended to her that she get a can of wasp spray instead.

The wasp spray, they told her, can shoot up to twenty feet away and is a lot more accurate, while with the pepper spray, they have to get too close to you and could overpower you. The wasp spray temporarily blinds an attacker until they get to the hospital for an antidote. She keeps a can on her desk in the office and it doesn’t attract attention from people like a can of pepper spray would. She also keeps one nearby at home for home protection. Thought this was interesting and might be of use.

On the heels of a break in and beating that left an elderly woman in Toledo dead, self defense experts have a tip that could save your life.  Val Glinka teaches self-defense to students at Sylvania Southview High School. For decades, he’s suggested putting a can of wasp and hornet spray near your door or bed.

Glinka says, “This is better than anything I can teach them.”

Glinka considers it inexpensive, easy to find, and more effective than mace or pepper spray. The cans typically shoot 20 to 30 feet; so if someone tries to break into your home, Glinka says “spray the culprit in the eyes”. It’s a tip he’s given to students for decades. It’s also one he wants everyone to hear. If you’re looking for protection, Glinka says look to the spray. “That’s going to give you a chance to call the police; maybe get out.” Maybe even save a life.  Please share this with all the people who are precious to your life.

Did you also know that wasp spray will kill a snake? And a mouse! It will!  Good to know, huh?  If someone comes at you and you fear for your safety let them have it right in the face.  They can work it out with the cops at the hospital later.

Now here is the other shoe hitting the floor.  If you own a gun, put two or three rounds in ‘em, stick a hammer in their hand, and then call 911.  Like Dr. Phil sez … That works for me.

Have a good weekend, you worked hard for it, enjoy.

Dinosaurs and Progressive Liberal Democrats

You know, dinosaurs really bug me.  How do they know what a dinosaur looks like? I see all these pictures of them, and it is nice how they dress them out, with skin color and different pigments.  But here it is in a nutshell … No one ever saw a dinosaur except for maybe God.  So what makes anyone think they know what they looked like?  I am a huge supporter of National Geographic and all that, but puh-leeze, give us a break.

There were no Kodak Moments in our world some millions of years ago, no one took a photo of one, nothing was ever found scratched on a cave wall somewhere.  So how do they really know what they looked like?  From some very old fossilized bones, bleached white, dug up from the soil in North Dakota?

Now I understand that Louisiana is going to actually start teaching kids about dinosaurs and telling them ludicrous things like “they really lived and walked on the face of the earth” this I believe is called “Creationism” or something like that.  What is this world coming to?

mime-attachment-1

It’s thought engaging material like this, that brings people to this site over and over.  And you get comments too!  “You are so cool! I do not suppose I’ve read something like this before. So great to find somebody with a few original thoughts on this subject. Seriously.. thanks for starting this up. This website is something that is required on the web, someone with a bit of originality!”

Then of course, there is reality.

People do this all of the time, they post “nice comments” on the wrong site, but in this Facebook/Twitter day and age … I will take anything I can get.  Sort of like Tom Cruise, whatever is available, give it to me, I will make it work.

So this morning I am in the kitchen and I am reading this new book that was sent to me by the U.S. Government from their current best seller list.  It is entitled “You and Medicare.”  It is a complete current compendium of everything that an old geezer like myself needs to know about medical procedures and treatments available to me.

Leafing thru this 140 page document (which is most likely thinner than ANY U.S. Government document thank heavens), I see or note several items that I am sure I have.  So dutifully I turn to page #127 where they say information can be found.

Right there I spot my answer … “Please dial 1-800-344-7788 and order your box.”

It pays to be informed, that is why I am always searching out the answers for the questions that haunt me during the slow periods of Dancing With Stars. er

For instance:  Did you know the five worst mass killings in this country have a common thread.  (Hint #1: they don’t belong to the NRA)

  1. Ft  Hood … Registered Democrat ~  Muslim
  2. Columbine …Too young to vote;  both families were registered Democrats and progressive liberals
  3. Virginia Tech … Wrote hate mail to President Bush and to his staff ~ Registered Democrat
  4. Colorado Theater …  Registered Democrat; staff worker on the Obama campaign; Occupy Wall  Street participant; progressive liberal
  5. Connecticut School Shooter … Registered Democrat;  hated Christians.

This would lead a person to believe that the common thread is that all of these shooters were progressive liberal Democrats.  Which is “labeling a particular group of people” and should be by all means avoided.  This will get the American Civil Liberties people involved, and we all know where it will go then, don’t we?

It would be better to say that “all of them shopped at WalMart” or something like that.

Also, of the worst killings in the last several decades, only one was a female, all the rest were boys, barely men, and none of them had a strong male father or role model in the household. Their role models most likely were rappers, action movies, comics and violent video games.   Our problem isn’t weapons, it’s boys without boundaries. Who live in ‘progressive’ households.

So our options are clearly defined here today.

First we should stop all of this non-sense about the color of the eyes of a Transoraus-Rex, because no one ever saw one, and if you did, that is the least of your worries.  Second, we must remove all Progressive Liberal Democrats from our society along with teenage boys … Then I suppose, we will all be in much better shape, unless you happen to live in Louisiana?

Tomorrow our subject matter will be sperm.  Is it good for you?  Will it help put some shine in your hair, does it really have protein?  This is on the heels of our last far reaching expose on “Pubic Hair … Where did it go?”  And of course a adventure to our favorite porn site which can be found at http://www.youporn.com/watch/Wife shows hubby a good time in the  ….. hey wait a minute, this is the wrong place for that information, that is our other site we run under a fictitious name out of Bosnia …. sorry.  What could I possibly been thinking?

Just remember this …
