Why Email Sucks …

WeekendOne thing that amazes me is how a person can take something coming in, read it, think it over, and then corrupt it into something totally different and send it back.

No One Gives AWhy Email Sucks …

Do you want to be happy or do you want to be right, most of the time in life, you are not allowed both.  The human mind is an amazing organ.  It takes in (constantly) all of this information, data, that it comes across.  The mind then sifts thru it all, makes a conscious decision to either keep it or throw it away.  One thing that amazes me is how a person can take something coming in, read it, think it over, and then corrupt it into something totally different and send it back.

Faster than a New York minute it hits your inbox, a tailor-made response to you in the form of an email.  Others will do a personal message or in rare cases, a telephone call.  Often things will get lost in translation, a little disambiguation may clear the air, and then again, it might not.  This is why I think Email is evil, it sucks, it is useless, and will never replace face to face communication or the telephone.

Here is an example of what I am talking about here:

“My opinion is most of the BCI people consist of low income, schoolie’s, and wanna-be’s at best.  I have no idea as to what the demographic’s are on the 1186+ membership.  People in this position do not have a lot of disposable income and most likely do not have it to let go of.  I don’t think it is anything **** or *** have done to produce what I suspect are low numbers.”  (less than 1/2 of 1% or four buses total)

And the response:

This one really hit us hard. You remark about our group be a bunch of so called low life skoolies…some balls saying that, don’t you think. The only bus in Pahrump that even was close to a skoolie, blew everyone else’s bus away. Other than that, all the buses at Pahrump were above par. Considering you have such an negative attitude about this group, it makes me wonder why you are even a part of it.”

Which is vitriol pure and simple. Nothing close to what some would consider a civil answer.  Please note the opinion presented did not use negative metaphors (name calling such as low-lifes, etc, etc) nor did it reflect a sorry attitude.

It was just an observation.

Maybe some day, and hopefully it will be soon, someone in Silicone Valley will invent a lock on a keyboard so that Right Fighters who are half-lit cannot get onto it without a code and send out terse hateful messages to people who went out of their way to support them.

And that my friends is why I believe in less than 500 words … Why Email sucks.  One of these days I am going to get a real life, no honest.  I will let you know.
