Veteran’s Day

Today in honor of Hartgen and Spitler who died in Aft Steering and my friend Fredrickson who never made it off the Flight Deck on July 27th, 1967 (Fire On The Flight Deck ) … This post is dedicated to you boys. We miss you.

Please take a moment out of your busy day to stop and consider all the freedom’s you currently enjoy and those who gave so much that you might have a rich and better life.

Then lower your head and pray for those who are still not home on this day.

If you know a vet, call him/her and tell them you appreciate their service and sacrifice for the common good of our country.

Better yet, if you can, take them out somewhere and buy them lunch and hug their neck.

  1. Been doing this every year DS for quite some time now. The WW2 ‘n Korean War “Vets” are slowly but surely disappearing from the ranks, but there’s many, many men ‘n women from ‘Nam and other wars that need to be considered on this and every day in my opinion.

Not long ago I met a youngster that literally did not know anything about Viet Nam. It was a long time ago, what? Fifty years? That doesn’t seem possible, but it is.

This weekend we came across this old timer wearing a WWII ballcap, and I swear, he looked like he was 100 years old.

I am going to keep talking about them, and holding them up, they were my buddies and it is the least I can do for them. As long as you do this, they will remain alive in my mind and the mind’s of others.
