I like a cold drink at the end of the day, so I set out to fabricate an ice chest, but one that was a bit different from the norm. This is an ice chest inside a wooden box.
The lid of the ice chest attaches to the lid of the box, close the box lid and the ice chest seals.
It also has a permament drain on one side, so it drains constantly (ice will last longer).
Final step is to cover the bottom with felt, I do this on all my boxes, that way if they shift around during transit, they don’t mar or scratch up my hardwood floors. Might be overkill … but then again … It works for me.
Just one drawback, it is too tall. Measure three times, cut once, and then cross your fingers, this thing is approximately 1 3/4″ too tall and it bumps the roof of the bay when you open it up. All projects, contrary to popular belief, don’t necessary turn out to be winners. Nice looking, but it didn’t quite cut the mustard as far as “good ideas” go.
